My understanding is that babies generally see only high contrast at a pretty short distance (1 foot?) She certainly likes looking at faces close up.

Sound :- Whitenoise is supposed to be soothing. She also likes U2 and (heaven help me) Cher. Loud. I think she likes my singing too. I'm not sure why.

Taste:- She eats a lot. I'm not sure how much variation in taste she actually gets. There are theories that the mother's diet can affect the milk, but I haven't personally verified that. Ewwww.

Touch:- Babies need to be held and touched. They also need to be warm. One input is swaddling -- wrapping her tightly so that she can't move her arms or legs. Rocking and dancing with her count here too.

Smell :- Smell is supposed to be one of the most powerful senses. I've yet to see her react to any smells specifically, but I'm sure she is paying attention.

Outputs:

Biological Outputs:- Doctors are funny creatures. They are really concerned about all forms of matter escaping from our bodies: liquid, solid or gas. Parents also pay close attention to this. The amount, type and origin seem to be important clues to understanding the baby.

Cries :- She has many and varied cries. Some of them are short yelps to draw attention while others are reports of murder nearby. Then there is the scary quivering lower lip. This is supposedly normal and a byproduct of her immature nervous system. It just kills me to see her do it though.

Posture:- The way she holds her body is an important clue. If she is curled up like a bug or stretched out and rigid means something.

Eyes and Face :- Her eyes and face are very expressive. Almost too expressive. she goes through a facial expression every 5 seconds or so.

Sleep:- You'd think that it would be easy to tell if she is asleep or not. It really
isn't though. She can be sleeping with her eyes closed or just pretending to sleep so that the minute you put her down she perks right up again.

Have missed the source of these words.

Moved by Yogendra Singh Yadav

From today Morning, I thought of reading Express india RSS Feeds and let me know some thing about my surroundings every day. Our future is bright but imagine how bright it will be if 99 per cent of our youth are educated. And if they infuse in themselves the spirit of sacrifice, India’s future as an empowered nation is assured.

On Culture :

Our culture is ancient, perhaps the oldest in the world. Yet we are helpless as we watch our youth drift towards a way of life introduced by the West. In a sense, the core of our culture is threatened by these new ideals. India has always been open, outward-looking. So if we are to keep our culture adequately safe, this is the time to ensure that something so ancient, so rich is never lost.

Read the complete article.

Love for Yogendra.

Ranjith

Nice Photos..!

This is From Dave of Scripting news...

Check out

R u an Idiot ?

There is a site available to say whether you are an idiot or not ..!

Check out

R u An I D I O T

Nothing Idiotic .. Get
ready for fun, because as I like to say, *Something wonderful is about to happen!*

1) Replace *I can't* with *I refuse.*

There truly is no such thing as *can't,* because our minds naturally drop out the negative. So
when you say, *I can't,* what you're really saying is *I can, but I do not want to.* So why not just
come out and say, *I refuse*? Clearly identify who and what you do not like, and stop apologizing
or feeling guilty about it. Remember that whatever you resist persists, so when you refuse, you
actually break the link to something that's been holding you back and open the door for something
wonderful
to enter.

2) Make your own decisions.

Stop giving away your power. Snap out of the idea that someone else has the answers you need.
You're only going to do what you want to do anyway. So stop asking other people what they think.
They'll be telling you what's right for them, not you. Get comfortable with the idea that you were born
with a connection to the divine, which you can access in numerous ways. Remember that when YOU
(not others) focus on your life, good things happen.

3) Stop *but-ting* yourself out of happiness.

For one day, or even one hour, see if you can eliminate the use of the word *but.* Remember that
*but* always negates what comes after it. *I love you, but,* or *I want to, but* basically mean
that you do not love the person and you do not want to do whatever it is you're talking about.
Instead, try using the word *and.* *I love you, and* is amazingly powerful. So is *I want to, and.*
*And* is life; *but* is death. Remember that you can't think two things at the same time.

4) Start laughing at yourself.
Stop taking yourself so seriously. There really only is one life or death issue, and that's
whether you're living each day, or dying each day. (And we all know some dying people who do a better
job of living than some so-called *alive* people do!) When you find yourself thinking about how
busy, burned out or stressed you are, stand back and take a good hard look. You're not dead yet, so
stop deadening yourself to life. Knock it off. Remember that things will stay the same until you
--not they--change. So lighten up, and you'll find that whatever you thought was so important
probably isn't.

5) Have a conversation.

If you're living on Email, you're basically cutting yourself off from others. My friend Gerry puts
it well: *Email is for notification, not communication.* Use it to exchange facts and to schedule
a time to talk. If you say you're too busy to talk, it's probably because you're too busy doing
Email. Remember that what you put in, you get back. As my friend Ken says, no one ever got promoted
for being really good at Email. If you want truly satisfying relationships, try doing it the old
fashioned way and talk.

6) Stop competing and start sharing.

If you see every other person as a competitor, they will be. As the saying goes, *It's not whether
you win or lose, it's how you play the game that counts.* Share your light with others, and allow
them to share theirs with you. Snap out of the illusion that life has finite resources and that
you must struggle for your piece of it. Remember that if you believe something to be true, you will
live that truth.

7) Get unreal.

Mystics say that what we consider to be reality is only an illusion. So stop taking things at face
value, and start asking yourself what you wish were true. Use your gift of dreams to imagine the
best for yourself and others. Play big. Really, really big. Remember that you always attract what
you are, not what you want.

-- Robin L. Silverman teaches Fullistic Living(TM), so you can stop surviving and start thriving!

A Pleasant Evening ...!

It was not a very long drive down that city as I was thinking of going...

The day started for me the last morning with a very dull move. very slow and a heavy mind...

Some how I managed and went to office and did some good work today... Very nice...!

We stopped at the road side in the 200 feet road near the OMR Road end. We had a tea and returned arround 7:20 PM.

As I thought, It was not a long trip, but a relaxed drive down the city...

Played some shuttle with my partner at office and returned home at 10 PM.

Expecting some more trips like this at the evenings on working days ..!

Thanks to Machi ..!

Very Happy - Ranjith

Email - How to Save Time ..!

That was a wonder ful article on how the time can be saved against the usage of the Email..!

From Darwinmag.com :
7 Tips for Getting of Control of E-mail

Another post by Tim which I got on browsing thru my bloglines links

Doing Email Better

Ramesh - The captain..

This is a day in last month when My friend came from Singapore for a trip down to India. I love to post these lines as a matter of social responsibility...!

Andy Budd's post

Social responsibility is a lofty ideal. I would love to live in a world where each individual felt personally responsible for the world around them, and acted accordingly. Unfortunately the reality is much different. We live in an increasingly selfish society where the needs of the individual outweigh the needs the larger community. It’s sad, but that’s human nature.

Liked the line ..!

It is a very long time after which I am blogging here after I lost my mobile.

I was reading thru my blog lines subscriptions and I happen to read the blog from amywohl. I was not able to get the link of the particular blog here. So putting everything he writes on going to a conference and the pinch is the last line....

If Everyone's a Journalist How Do You Tell Where to Get the News?

__________________
The blog :-

How to Attend a Conference

Some people only want to attend conferences they are speaking at. I used to be that way. Others don't want to speak at all -- it interferes with their networking, which is why they're at the conference in the first place.

I've discovered that some of the best conference experiences I've had is going to a conference where nobody (or nearlly nobody) knows me and I can float around, discovering new things and meeting new people. No one has preconceived notions of what I "know." No one is going to put me into a pigeonhole, unless I tell them what it is.

Some folks don't like that idea -- they'd prefer that we change how conferences work so that everyone is on n equal level -- all of us exchanging information. It's an intriguing idea, but I think it has one flaw. None of us is an expert on everything and when I want to learn about something new I want the amateurs to sit in the audience with me so we can hear with the experts have to say.

I'm happy to be an expert about something I know a lot about and feel passionate about, if someone wants me to do that, but even when I do know quite a bit, sometiimes it's fun to let other experts have their say. (I might actualy learn something new.) Blogging has made this much more fun. If I don't agree with the speaker, especially if I'm another expert, I can happily contradict him to my heart's content without interrupting the flow of the conference. (Of course, other bloggers may enjoy -- or extend -- my comments.)

But new ideas are worth pursuing, so I'm ready to try some more "everyone as an equal" conferences where we all educate each other. I think this probably works best when either we're all at a similar level of ezpertise or where we're sharply different -- and we know it.

Am I not Emotionally Inteligent ????

This is a deep question that raises often in my mind after I lost my mobile today morning.

This day started with a call from machi at morning 6 am which I did not attend. Then came the call from Arun which I attended and he told he is coming to my house this morning. I dont know that he has already reached and he is at chittus' house. I was taken out of sleep my machi who arrived arround 6 30 at my house. Then we went for a game of shuttle and I went running for a KM and I was driving his car back home. I was a little excited by when I was driving it on the road, since I am doing it for the first time and I was little fast at some places toooo. Successfully We reached the T-Khadai But still I beleive I was little obsessed with my acheivement this morning on the driving.

I donot understand whether this filled my Emotions and thoughts completely and does not focus much on my surroundings ?

Am I not emotionaly inteligent ?

This question raises often that I dont know the answers for the following questions.

After machi kept the mobile back on my packet, whether I took the mobile out into my hands ?

Whether I kept the mobile on the T-Khadai kalla or at the place where we were sitting and having the Lazzi?

Do I have to do a sanity check of my belongings before I leave the T-Khadai ?

Just thinking little deeper to get the answers for these things. We were at Kodai Road at 6 AM instead of 4 am. We got a Tata Van and an Omni [ replacement for the vanished Qualis]. We started moving to Kodai. We prayed first at Karupasamy Kovil for a successful Trip. We then stopped there at the tea stall at the entrance of the Kodai. We climbed up the hilll. I, chandru , Karups , Murali were in the Omni. Chandru started his leelai first... before we reached the OOthuuu... then we reached the kodai by 9 15. We were ready for the trip at 11:15 am.. We went to the Bear Sholay falls and then wet to the Pambar falls. In the pambar falls we had a good time. We moved down for two steps in the falls and had a good adventure...!

We had lunch at a hotel and we had a bad time fighting with the manager for the rotten fish curry. Then we moved on to the boating. The lake is complete covered by the mist and was really nice view. After that we started the boating. The mist cleared and had a good view of things around..! A crew of 25 Gujaals..!

We started on the last Friday Evening 6 PM by NagerCoil Express Special Train running thru Salem. All were there in the Train except our Friend Krishna from Hyderabad. There are lot of call to and fro from him and us when his train from hyderabad is moving out of Basin Bridge and our train started moving out of the Central Station. At one stage we really thought we are missing him on the Trip. At last this guy inspite of all warings from the TTs and PCs catched the Train when it was out of the Central Station and made the count 24. Kudos to Krishna.

The train was moving smoothly and we had our dinner we got from the Maruthi Veg Corner and our Canteen...! When it was nearing Jolarpet, we had a small exchange of words between some of the men arround there. Some of the guys who got in with the unreserved tickets into the reserved compartments. We provide them space for their journey. Guys are on fire and successfully the fight was stopped. Then those guys got down at jolarpet.

After the that the train went smoothly. Vijayakumar C got in at Salem and made the count as 25. It was really good.

Some of the things I observed this time. For the previous two dharsans we started our Girivalam at around 3 am in the morning and completed by around 6:30 am. The land was so cool and was very nice and did not feel much on the foot.

This time all because of JK [ our Mannaar Manager ] from B'lore , I was forced to start my walk at 10:15 PM and completed at around 2:30 am. This time, I felt that heat from the land flowing on to my legs..!

Slow Dance !!!

This was a wonderful poem that calls for a slow down of your self and listen to the things that goes around you.
